I set off in the dark, zig-zagged up 5 different freeways and arrived early, before anyone else. At 8am, the morning already promised a hot day ahead. I wiped the dew off my table and set it up – don’t think I did it too badly, if I do say so myself. Other authors soon arrived and the Westminster Gardens in Duarte started to look like an author festival. The buzz was happy and relaxed. I love being around other authors, especially the Murder They Wrote team of Gayle Carline (left in the picture below) with her terrific new novel, Hit or Missus, young writer, Alyssa Fumarolo, Pam Ripling (aka Ann Carter) with Point Surrender, Teresa Burrell with The Advocates Betrayal and Jeff Sherratt (missing from the picture) with The Brimstone Murders.
We sat on the 1.15pm panel and enjoyed talking about ourselves, our books, and fielding questions from the audience and each other. Spread out around the event at various tables, I enjoyed a seat next to excellent documentary photographer, Brian Biery, photographer for beautiful book called Power of One written by Traude Gomez.
