I kicked off the trip with a couple of fantastic cocktails aboard Virgin Atlantic, courtesy of Marc Plumridge, Global Brand Ambassador for the Bacardi Martini Corporation. Marc mixed me a tasty Bacardi Daiquiri followed by a delicious Carribean Rum swizzle, both made with Bacardi superior rum (recipes will be posted in a separate post). I could easily have gone for a 3rd, but quit while I was ahead. Here is Marc with my Rum Swizzle and his very own copy of MADNESS AND MURDER, 35,000 feet in the air.
Seated in the first class cabin, I did the usual check around to see ‘who’s who’ – no one I recognized, but 10 hours is a long time to fly alone and not to talk to anyone, so I took the opportunity to make some new friends and do a little marketing at the same time. Here is one of my new Virgin Atlantic friends with her copy of MADNESS AND MURDER. Doesn’t she look delighted?!
The cold temps, ice and snow did nothing to dampen my holiday; in fact, I think this is how winter should be. The California sunshine hasn’t spoiled me at all; I still miss home and the freezing climate. I had a wonderful time with my family, caught up with school friends I haven’t seen for over 20 years, dined out with other friends I’ve known since I was 7, and had lunch with even more good friends. Such a fab time. The 2 weeks slipped by way too fast and all too soon I was airborne for the return journey to the US. Here’s to the next time. Cheers.
