This is our booth at the Pasadena June Faire, a major fundraiser in the grounds of the Sierra Madre British Home. On Saturday, along with 2 of my DBE friends, we sweated in the blistering California heat while we happily sold our crafts, shared lots of laughs, and chatted with all sorts of wonderful people who turned out to support the event. While the event was not about books, plenty of books were on sale, and a good deal of conversation revolved around the inevitable print v ebook. I was delighted to discover so many new Kindle and Nook owners of all ages, and hear so much favorable talk about ebooks. (I couldn’t help smile at the booth piled high with empty plastic bins from all the print books he’d had to carry to the event). Even though the heat was draining, and we were exhausted, we had a fabulous day meeting these lovely folk, and raising money for a worthy cause. As people stopped by our booth, I handed out cards and bookmarks, even autographed a few, and discussed writing, the change in the industry, and (of course) my new book. I love talking about writing, so it wasn’t hard to be excited and passionate, but imagine my surprise when I discovered the man directly in front of me, on the other side of our booth, listening to everything I said, was a literary agent, with my bookmark in his hand! Hope he buys my book!
