I just had a mighty big dump. Literary speaking that is. Unbeknown to me, chapter one of Hide and Seek was one giant information dump, kindly pointed out by the wonderful folks at Wednesday night Wolfwriter’s – my esteemed literary colleagues and critiquers. On review, I re-edited and discovered to my surprise they were right. Chapter one was actually five chapters all combined, hurried, rushed and rolled into one in my insane haste to get the story on the page. I’ve never been the most patient person, kind of a spur-of-the-moment, consider the consequences later kind of gal. That goes for my writing, too. Sometimes I just lose myself in the story. Other times, I realize I’m in my forties and fear I might forget it if I don’t cram it all in as fast as I can. Needless to say, chapter one was a mess, but a mess I have sorted. I didn’t get my sun or fresh air this weekend, but I did get a grip on myself and am heading into chapter six at a far more appropriate pace.
